Guidelines
"And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us..." (Psalm 90:17a)
It is our desire that our personal appearance may reflect the beauty of Jesus Christ in our life,
and that it may be consistent with our goal to promote an atmosphere of excellence.
The goal of our dress code is to not only promote biblical modesty and propriety in appearance, but also to enhance an atmosphere of serious and disciplined study. We expect campers to take personal initiative to be aware of, understand, and abide by the dress code. To assist campers in taking this initiative, there will be a penalty of $20 upon any camper who is found to be in violation of the dress code.
We ask you to observe your local congregation's standards in whatever ways they exceed those of Music Camp.
For the men we ask:
-
That no necktie be worn. Tight, form fitting or baggy clothing are to be avoided.
-
That for all classes, choir rehearsals, and chapel, only dress pants and full button shirts be worn. Shoes and socks are required. Shirt tails are to be worn inside pants at all times. Jeans are permitted for recreational activities.
-
That novel and faddish hair styles be avoided. Hair should be properly trimmed and consistent with a Christian testimony.
-
That program attire be solid-colored black dress pants; white long-sleeved dress shirt; black belt, socks, and dress shoes.
For the women we ask:
-
That loose fitting dresses or jumpers be worn, supporting the Biblical teaching of modesty and purity. Skirt length should be at least half way between the knee and ankle. Slits are not permitted in skirts.
-
Sleeve length should be near the elbow, and neckline near the base of the neck.
-
That shoes or sandals be worn (no flip-flops, please). Footwear should be of modest color and design.
-
That the hair be neatly arranged and properly covered with a veiling that gives more prominence to the veiling than to the hair.
-
That program attire be a loose-fitting, solid-colored black dress (no pinstripes or pattern), hose and black dress shoes.
For the children we ask:
Children who are attending SCMC classes are encouraged to follow camp dress guidelines as possible. We request that they follow the protocol for footwear, which does not allow bare feet and flip flops. No T-shirts, please.
For the program on Sunday, we request that black pants and white shirts be worn by the boys and black dresses by the girls. If black is unavailable, a dark solid is acceptable.
For the Chamber Choir we ask:
Please observe the Music Camp guidelines as given on this page during the week of tour.
